Tired of throwing away pads? PMSing and getting rashes? Don’t you know what is present in those pads? Sanitary napkins contain plastic and other chemicals which can be harmful. So let’s a simple question:

What are cloth pads?

Cloth Pads or reusable menstrual pads can be washed several times. They absorb the menstrual blood and can stay up to 4 to 5 hours depending on your menstrual flow. After using it, you need to wash the cloth really well so that you can reuse the same pad. These cloth pads are usually made in several layers that have cotton or hemp but not plastic.

How to use a cloth pad

In the contemporary world, Cloth pads come with a thick lining that prevents staining. It also has a holder that will comfortably help you place your pad on the underwear. An adjustable band is also present to wrap around your waist so that it stays in place for longer hours

For eg: Saafkins is economical and environmental friendly. It is simple to use and includes the band and lining. It usually lasts for 12 hours.

Advantages

It is very comfortable and feels soft down under. The fabric is safe, hygienic and soft.

There is minimal chances of getting rashes on your skin, since the cloth does not absorb your sweat or any moisture on your skin, unlike disposable pads which have plastic present in them.

One of the biggest advantage is that the cloth pad will not carry any odor or foul smell since disposable pads emit when there is a reaction of plastic with blood.

The fit of the cloth pads are perfect and easy to use.

It is cost effective and will last longer.

Disadvantages

Reusable pads may not really suit women who have heavy bleeding during their periods.

Sometimes washing can be tricky since you need to put a lot of effort.

After washing, it will take time to dry. Sometimes it will take longer

than expected.

If you are traveling somewhere, you will have to carry an extra bag. Washing may not be an option.
