Top 10 Disney Films that inspired me

Being a Disney fanatic, I have always loved watching all of the Disney movies right from learning the Lyrics, Dialogues and even the history. Sometimes I even read up the entire history before watching the movie before it’s release. In fact, these movies have shaped my childhood to an extent that I learned to be Brave like Mulan or Merida, Kind and Compassionate like Cinderella or even intelligent like Belle. Even being a 21 year old, I still enjoy them. Here are my top ten Disney movies that inspired me.

1. Mulan(1998)

The 1998 classic film Mulan is part of the Renaissance Era between 1989–1999. The story revolves around Mulan, a strong-free spirited Chinese girl who deviates from societal norms of marriage. When the Huns invade China, and her father is the only male member of the family, and she is the only one who can save him, she disguises herself

as a man to fight the war. It truly inspired me to the fact that it teaches girls to be courageous, brave and make a stand in society.

2. Beauty and the Beast

The magic fairy-tale comes to life with the Disney heroine Belle, a bookish eccentric village girl of France who dreams a life beyond her provincial village life. When she meets the Beast she realizes that inner beauty and falls in love with him. The major theme of this story lies beyond this fairy-tale. Howard Ashman, one of the major lyricist of the project, was ill with AIDS. The Beast, a haggard looking man is a caricature of him. The world is so materialistic it looks for handsome and beautiful people. But the ones who are kind are always underestimated.

3. 101 Dalmatians(1967)

One of the films of the Dark age, but a simple couple of a musician named Roger and Anita, owning two Dalmatians who were expecting puppies. The evil Cruella De Vil who wants to steal the puppies for their fur, makes Roger and Anita worried. The Dalmatians are rescued by their parents with a little help from their neighbor’s pooches

4. Brave(2012)

A young Scottish lass, brilliant in archery betrothed to one of the clans, when an archery tournament is held to choose her suitable groom, she claims she will fight for her own hand. This infuriates her mother, while she runs to the forest discovering a witch’s cottage. A sudden turn of events like her mother changing into a bear and then her bond with her mother grows stronger. She realizes her mother is the most important person in her life.

5. Princess and the Frog(2009)

The first African-American princess, it takes a spin when Tiana herself turns into a frog when she kisses Prince Naveen. She then makes a deal that when they turn back women she wants to open her own restaurant. She then falls in love with Naveen. Even though it is a cliched love story, the fact that she is an entrepreneur is a step for Sexist propaganda and breaking them.
